Last night I went on an adventure... through the ice and snow of course. However, now that I recollect those thoughts, it's striking how much fun, and genuine enjoyment I experienced. There was nothing particularly special happening on this, said, adventure. We were sliding on the ice, which happened to be lacing the road in front of the house.... There are pictures to prove it, just so you know.
We often get ourselves into bouts of depressed moods, ill will, and general sadness over things that are so great that it's rediculous to even fathom. Yes, bad things happen, and it's one thing to mourn and quite another to allow things to fester.... The ability to let loose and have fun is something the world lacks--faith that everything is going to be okay. You may find yourself having a gloomy day today, but go slide on the ice. Tomorrow you may be feeling crummy, but go slide on the ice. You might find yourself too tired to do homework, but GO SLIDE ON THE ICE!
Too often we get caught in the negatives of everything, and we stay there. All it takes is a little freedom and the chains of despair are broken. Take a step out of your comfort zone, take a chance, and let go of something you fear to lose. All it takes is one time, and you might find out something about yourself. Who knows?!?
It all started with a friendly bet that the road was in fact icy... and we ended up sliding down the road for at least 20 minutes. It isn't normal to do that, but it produced in me something I haven't felt for a long time... geniune happiness and joy. Tis the season, might as well make it a good one!
Go slide on the ice, if only one time, it'll be worth it in the end!... Even if you fall and bruise your tail bone--you were freed from the despair of the moment, which is what really counts. The freedom to say, "I feel good about myself," which is what everybody really wants. Nobody can do it for you, they can show you the ice, but you, in fact, have to slide on it yourself.
Happy Sliding!
